Anti-smoking icon Debi Austin dies at 62

Debi Austin was made famous in an ad that showed her puffing through hole in her neck.

She died of throat cancer, on 22nd February 2013, after 20-year battle

Debi Austin shocked the nation in an anti-smoking commercial by taking a drag through her laryngectomy scar.

Debi had her first cigarette in junior high, an unfiltered Camel she stole from her father.

She finally quit smoking eight months after the commercial aired.

Austin spent decades fighting for against cancer, upper-respiratory infections, and emphysema .

She became a crusader educating children on the risks of smoking.
